The Power to Serve

  • by

Introduction

So he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

John 13:4-5 (NIV)

Discussion

How can there be any discussion of the power to serve others without thinking of this grand example from our Lord?

Christians, as new creations, are divinely-empowered to do many things. For example: We can pray fervently and effectively, we can resist temptation, and we can gladly give up our own reputations to serve others, for the glory of God.

How are you serving those around you? Maybe you are part of a ministry that is doing good by serving others? Are you finding it difficult to convey the good your organization does so that others can come alongside and partner in the work?

Conclusion

The power to serve our generation (and even beyond!) through the written word and spoken medium is a remarkable opportunity the Lord gives us, isn’t it?
